AMANDA CRAIG

Amanda Craig is the author of eight novels, with a ninth, High and Low coming out next May.

Often described as a State of the Nation novelist, she has been compared to Anthony Trollope, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen, and combines satire, suspense, romance and social commentary in her contemporary accounts of the way we live now. Her seventh novel, The Golden Rule features a heroine whose life has been ruined by misreading Jane Austen, and was long-listed for the 2023 Women's Prize for Fiction;  her eighth, The Three Graces, is about three elderly women friends who intervene in the wedding of a grandson that they perceive will be disastrous. It is currently being developed as a TV series by Momentum Pictures.

She is now writing a non-fiction book on Modern Marriage and can also be found reviewing fiction in the Spectator and children’s books in the New Statesman.

Amanda will also be speaking as part of a panel on Jane Austen, entitled "Why we still love Jane" alongside Allison Pearson and Ysenda Maxtone Graham.

Check out full event information here on "Why we still love Jane".
